| Description: | Barton Creek Outpost is nestled in the foothills of the Mountain Pine Ridge near San Ignacio. The Lonely Planet Guidebook names the Outpost one of the top 5 'Highlights of Belize". We offer free camping if you have your own gear and we have camping gear available to rent if you don't have your own: Tent with sleeping bag: $10US Thick foam sleeping pad for tent: $2.50US Mattress w/sleeping bag in our loft: $5US Recreational Vehicles (RV's) are welcome to camp at Barton Creek Outpost and pay only $5US a night. Our RV campers enjoy the full use of all facilities and it beats the heck out of camping in a large field! We serve three delicious home-cooked meals a day, just what you need when you have been on the road! Breakfast: $6 Lunch: $7.50 Dinner: $10 All meals include juice, water, coffee or tea. You are welcome to bring your own food and even cook over your fire but we generally do not open our kitchen for guests' use. The most common word we hear to describe the Outpost is "paradise". There are plenty of creek-side hammocks, a small book exchange, excellent bird watching and scenic botanical gardens. If you are seeking some adventure we work with the best local tour companies offering expeditions to remote waterfalls, Maya ruins, horseback riding, river canoeing and cave exploring. Whether you work up your appetite on an adventure or in a hammock you will always be impressed by the excellent home cooked meals we serve three times a day. |
